Leading the Way through Education and Positive Impact
One of our company’s primary goals is to be a positive force of environmental change both directly and indirectly. We strongly believe that innovative, for profit, environmentally responsible/beneficial businesses are the way of the future. We know that solutions do exist and we are optimistic about making changes NOW to improve the world our future generations inherit. At S.E.E. we seek to go beyond ZERO impact into POSITIVE impact. We will do this through responsible operation and environmental education.
Our tours will be conducted employing leave no trace principles. Gray water, feces, and solid waste will be collected and disposed of properly. We will always stay on existing roads and trails. Trust me there are enough out there already to get us as isolated as you’ve ever been! We will not take or destroy plants, animals, rocks, or cultural resources. In a few limited cases collecting small souvenirs can be done so legally, sustainable, and responsibly. We believe, souvenirs can serve as a reminder and help create lasting connections between man and nature, BUT ONLY WHEN AND WHERE ALLOWED!
Taking it a step further we are and want to teach our guests to become STEWARDS of the environment. Throughout the Eco- Tour, depending on a group’s reception of such ideas, our guides tie environmental information into pertinent discussions on geology, biology, geography/tour locales, culture, history, and more. We also have available a library of DVD’s and books on all these topics for your information and enjoyment. Sometimes these come in handy on longer drives. Beyond absorption of material we hope our guests will use what they’ve learned to take ACTION both on tour as well as when they return home to their daily lives. We encourage our guests to pick up trash everywhere we go (participation voluntary). If a tour party were interested we could also potentially join park efforts as volunteers to eradicate invasive species, conduct research, record observations, report violators, and more. Please note: None of these activities are mandatory. S.E.E. guides will NEVER FORCE environmental activities or ideas on you. We want to develop your capacity for environmental learning and action, whatever that capacity is. Please be open and honest with your guide from the beginning as to your group’s receptiveness to such things so we can best serve you! It’s YOUR tour after all!
