One Day One Night
OR
Two Day One Night
Valley of Fire State Park*:
The Valley of Fire captivates the eye and the imagination with its beautiful multicolor sandstone formations. Swaths of orange, red, pink, purple, and yellow make this location an excellent photographic opportunity. Learn about how this geologic anomaly came to be. Transport yourself back in time as you learn about the native cultures and view the petroglyphs (rock art) they left behind as tribes came and went through the ages. Here you have a choice of camps. You can choose the isolated quiet and beauty of similar formations just outside the park or you can choose to camp on the Overton arm of Lake Mead right on the water where it is a bit cooler and the view of the sunset is unimpeded.
Desert National Wildlife Refuge*:
If it’s pristine Mojave Desert you seek within close reach of Las Vegas it doesn’t get any better than the Desert National Wildlife Refuge. It's one of Las Vegas’ best kept natural secrets. Beginning at Corn Creek, a natural spring similar to that which Las Vegas was founded around, we venture into the limestone mountains of the Sheep Range so named for its abundance of Desert Bighorn Sheep. Although they are reclusive, you might just get lucky! We can increase our chances if you would like to photo hunt around one of the guzzlers (water sorurce) installed by the Fish and Wildlife Service. See the huge hole eroded out of the mountainside. Witness the magnificent flora as well! There are some magnificent flowers in Spring and Summer. If you like we can take a longer hike to the Hidden Forest a beautiful isolated stand of Ponderosas. There are several choices of camp here as well including the Ponderosa Pines at Mormon Well or Sawmill Wash.
Mount Charleston/ Spring Mountain NRA*:
Mount Charleston is an island of forest in an ocean of desert. Its peak is nearly 11,000 feet above sea level. The views are absolutely magnificent! From Creosote scrub to towering Ponderosa Pines this tour transports you through multiple distinct life zones. Ecologically it’s like going from Mexico to Canada in a 20 mile stretch, truly a unique place! We camp at 6500-8000ft above sea level so it’s a great place to beat the heat in the summer with temperatures 20-30 degrees cooler than in the Las Vegas Valley, but it’s beautiful anytime of year. Trips to the backside of the Spring Mountains via Pahrump are available as well. This area is more isolated if this is a priority.
Northwest Arizona:
There are some beautiful but more “off the beaten path” areas of the Mojave Desert in Northwest Arizona. This can be nice if you seek more isolation. There is an awesome stand of Joshua Trees, huge washes filled with wildflowers in Spring, areas of Pinion-Juniper woodlands with prickly pear in Fall, wild horses and burros, old mines (no we won’t be entering them), and an interesting mural in Chloride as well.
Two Day One Night OR Two Day Two Night:
Mojave National Preserve:
This quintessential expanse of Mojave Desert is truly one of the Southwest’s best kept secrets. One of the newest and largest areas managed by the National Park Service at 1.6 million acres, the preserve is a haven of isolation and solitude that takes at least 2 days to S.E.E. Highlights of this tour include camping beside and hiking the majestic singing sand dunes, scrambling volcanic cinder cones, and experiencing beautiful expanses of wildflowers from Spring through Summer. The MNP is also steeped in history. From ancient native trade routes to old ranches and a beautifully restored train station it’s truly a window on days long gone. About 2 hours from Las Vegas it’s just a short ride to get there.
Two Day One Night OR Three Day Two Night
Death Valley National Park**:
Death Valley National Park is truly a land of extremes. Within its boundaries are the lowest point in the U.S. at 282 feet below sea level and Telescope Peak in the Panamint Mountains at 11,049 above sea level. Temperatures in the Valley can reach well over 120 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and well below freezing in the mountains in winter. While the valley floor typically receives less than 2 inches of rain a year, the mountains are frequently covered in snow in winter. Here pine, juniper, and sage thrive. The flora and fauna have evolved amazing adaptations to live in such extremes. Wildflowers explode in spring when rains have been plentiful (relative) in winter. It’s truly an amazing spectacle! The geology of the park is captivating. The forces required to crumple the land are rock and mind bending. Craters of ancient volcanoes, salt crusted flats, and beautiful layers of multicolored rocks are just a few of the geologic features. Despite its name and common misconceptions Death Valley is a place full of life and comfortable camping locations. The elevation of S.E.E. camps is determined by season in an effort to moderate extreme temperatures. Don’t worry it’s completely comfortable and safe and totally amazing.
Grand Canyon**
This location needs no introduction. Its one of the most recognized natural wonders of the world. It is also incredibly popular with travelers from all over the world. We feature totally unique overnight tours to the beautiful isolated North Rim. S.E.E. the Grand Canyon in its pristine splendor! Learn about the plants and animals of the Mojave Desert and Colorado Plateau. Best of all enjoy a home cooked meal while watching the sunset from our camp near the rim. You WON’T find this unique tour anywhere else! Book yours today! A truly unforgettable experience!
*all tours that are not “naturally” interstate tours must travel across state lines at some point for legal reasons. Usually this is at the Hoover Dam border with Arizona.
